Approach

The SAHAS approach has been that of involving vulnerable communities to identify their issues, organizing them for viable alternatives and helping to scale up for a wider change and impact. Each intervention is based on local needs which is consciously designed to mobilize community participation and ownership. The process of facilitation is guided by gender equality and human rights perspectives which enables the most vulnerable to live with dignity, equality and without fear. Our core values of equity, participation and empowerment, accountability and collaboration have enabled us to build a credible organization working to bring about a positive change in the lives of marginalized groups in urban and rural areas. These groups include migrant industrial workers (particularly diamond cutters/polishers), adolescents and youth, women in slums, women engaged in sex work, men having sex with men (MSM), people living with HIV and AIDS, including children, orphans and widows.
